On Sunday, June 30, 2024, the Iraqi Company for Financing Small and Medium Enterprises (ICF) received a delegation from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), represented by Dr. Tawfiq, Regional Director of the Fund in Iraq and Yemen, and his team, Dr. Ahmed Al-Falahi, Agricultural Advisor, and Engineer Alaa from the Ministry of Agriculture.

With the aim of strengthening cooperation in the field of agricultural development in Iraq. The meeting focused on providing a comprehensive introduction to our company and its work in the agricultural sector, reviewing its current activities and projects in the agricultural field, and improving the livelihoods of local farmers.

The mechanisms available for agricultural financing in Iraq were discussed and how access to these resources can be improved. The successes and challenges in agricultural financing operations were highlighted and the obstacles facing the agricultural sector in Iraq were addressed, including climate fluctuations, infrastructure, and economic challenges. Potential solutions to overcome these challenges and improve the efficiency of the sector were discussed.

The importance of the partnership with the International Fund for Agricultural Development was emphasized to enhance sustainability and increase agricultural productivity, and the two sides discussed how local farmers can benefit from IFAD’s support through joint programs and initiatives.
